I don't worship Jesus
I won't be distracted by the obsession with worship as a sign of Christianity
Churches that focus their energy on the invisible in the sky
All the while ignoring the instructions of Jesus on earth
Millions spent on stages, sound systems, and the spectacular
Dripping with the righteousness of being in the show
Glory and praise as a substitute for loving action
Save me from the anthems for Bloody Jesus, Rambo Jesus, and Boyfriend Jesus
The lights, camera, action, all hands raised
While people are pushed and shot down in the streets
Give me a church with peeling paint, a single coffee pot, and lagging internet
Take me to the church on the street with a dozen protesters and handmade signs
I wanna be in the church with the community choir singing "you are beautiful" and "born this way"
Praise to the church at the donut shop, where strangers gather to protect their neighbors
I'll take the church unbound by the American flag at its altar
Thank God for the churches without walls and the wow of worship
Find me the churches simply living the way and the truth
