the muslim scare

I was dropped into the saddest social media algorithm today. It was white person after white person declaring we are now at war, losing America, and proclaiming armageddon in Michigan because of the Muslims.

I guess I was supposed to be terrified by a video of Muslin women simply shopping for food with their kids in a grocery store.

They apparently expected me to think it is scary to see signs in Home Depot with English and Arabic.

Maybe they thought hearing audible calls to prayer to our shared God is sinful.

Thankfully, I remember I am an American and I live in America.

That our belief in freedom requires us to allow women shopping in grocery store to wear a hijab if they feel more comfortable doing so.

Don’t ever come after me for my Birkenstocks with socks!

As an American I know that having several language on signs hurts absolutely freaking no one - and if was Italian, French or Swedish (you know, white people languages) no one would be complaining.

And our freedom of religion means freedom of religion.

If evangelicals can delight in standing on street corners screaming their bible verses at cars and get to pray around the flag pole at public schools, Muslims get to pray in public too.

WHAT someone is praying for is so much more important than HOW they pray. My guess is most of us have similar prayers, no matter the language.

And of all the fear mongering, here's the most hypocritical: Christians screaming that the Muslims are trying to convert everyone to their religion.

Umm... that sure is the pot calling the kettle black.
