While the two most powerful people in the world behaved like children
I hung out with children who are full of curiosity and kindness
As I passed bumper stickers giving the middle finger to vaccines and Biden
I used my fingers to build spaces for gathering in peace
When entertainment cable exaggerated, lied, and stoked fear
I stoked a campfire, savoring the truthful conversations that happen in its glow
The government wanted me to believe that green tanks rolling in are beautiful
I sat in the shade of a green tree, thankful for the generosity of its coolness
The conspiracies run so wild that scientists are out, and internet experts are in
I dreamed up wild plans for a healthier and more gentle living
Rumor had it that my church’s Pride Event was an inappropriate adults-only event
I had the pleasure of dancing and singing to tell attendees they are only loved
The talking heads will lie about the boogie men taking over our country and threatening our jobs
I stayed in the car to boogie with my niece to a song that makes her smile
A “big beautiful bill” is lurking in the dark behind the manufactured LA crisis
I took moonlit walks, savoring the silence of the dark
