Five days of conversation, eye contact, and freedom Four nights of easy sleep, lulled by the waves Three children, now grown, in expanded relationship to us and each other
Two parents with full hearts and hopes fulfilled
In one second changed with the switch of an internet button
I’m going to resist for as many more hours as I can
Resist five mornings of news anchors sounding alarms
Resist four apps dinging and beckoning for my attention
Resist three branches of government betraying us
Resist two-sided arguments that leave no room for gray
Remember that I have one life in which to savor these precious and fleeting moments
