We come in peace

ree

My town boarded up buildings and placed several police cars along the 1 mile route for this group of protestors. I’m so sad that this community started with an expectation of fear and violence.

Our walking group met about 25 others at the corner of our little town. We chanted and held signs.

I personally invited Sheriff Phalen to join us or talk to us. He declined.

Councilman Mike Walker spoke to the police but didn't look our way, even when we called his name.

Councilman Patrick Lynch introduced himself to us but said he was a businessman and didn't mention he is on City Council. He also welcomed us to Canal Winchester, as if we were not all citizens. We made it clear that we are citizens that he also represents.

Officer Hendershot, who is in community relations, did come over to say hello and took a photo op. He was generally friendly and wanted to talk about community groups he would be starting later in the summer.

Many people brought us water - and even ice cream, thank you! We did not experience any counter-protesting.
